A
server (or web server) is a powerful computer
that can store the data for
hundreds or even thousands of websites. A Web
server sends content to your
Web browser by loading a file from a disk and
sending it across the network
to a user's Web browser. This entire exchange
is mediated by the browser and
server talking to each other using HTTP.
If
you think you may need your own server
then you must first decide which
sort you need. There are broadly two different
types of standard web server,
those using Linux and those using Windows
as operating systems and the
differences between their operation and abilities
